Reading Room - August 2016
If you work in IT, you need to constantly scan the horizon for what's new. As a leader, you also need to keep your eye out for trends that impact your organization or your teams and to refresh your professional skills along the way. This month, I'm only providing one recommendation because it's a big topic, not exactly summertime reading. Still, I hope you enjoy.
The Lean Management Systems Handbook - (Rich Charron, H. James Harrington, Frank Voehl, Hal Wiggin). This Lean Management Systems handbook is not for the feint of heart. It's a dense volume filled with Lean management systems theory and detail. If you're interested in in understanding Lean management systems, this is a great book to dig into. Many people who first approach Lean learn about the tools of Lean. That's fine, but without the management system around those tools, a "Lean initiative" will not yield the transformational change most organizations are looking for.
